A potential transfer dilemma is brewing for Liverpool's manager, Arne Slot, as star defender Andy Robertson hints at an uncertain future with the club.
Robertson, a key figure for the Reds since 2017, finds himself in a tricky situation with just five months left on his contract. Despite contract talks, the 31-year-old Scottish defender is unsure about his future at Anfield.
"It's a difficult question," Robertson admits. "I have to consider my options. I want to play regularly, and that's something I need to discuss with my family."
The arrival of Milos Kerkez, signed for £40 million from Bournemouth, was meant to be Robertson's long-term replacement. However, Kerkez hasn't quite lived up to expectations, leaving Robertson as Liverpool's first-choice left-back. But Robertson's desire for regular game time might force him to explore other opportunities.
"I've always been a player who wants to be on the pitch," Robertson explains. "I've played through injuries and when I wasn't fully fit, but now I'm not getting those opportunities. Footballers want to play, and if I'm not getting that chance here, I might have to look elsewhere."
And this is where it gets interesting. With Robertson potentially leaving, Slot faces a challenging decision. Will he stick with Kerkez, who hasn't quite found his feet yet, or will he need to bring in a new left-back?
What do you think, football fans? Should Robertson stay or go? And if he leaves, who should Liverpool target to replace him? Let us know in the comments!
