Lydia Hall, a Welsh golfer, claimed her fourth WPGA Tour of Australasia title at the Vic Open, held at 13th Beach Golf Links. The 38-year-old from Porthcawl finished with a level par score, four shots ahead of Australians Kelsey Bennett and Kathryn Norris. This win marks Hall's first 72-hole event victory, contrasting with her previous three Australian triumphs, which were over a shorter sprint distance of 36 holes.
Hall expressed her delight, stating, 'I'm thrilled to begin the season with this win. It's been a remarkable 18 years since my first attempt.' She also highlighted the significance of this achievement, noting that it's an 'historic event' she's always aspired to attain during her career.
Her most notable career achievement is the 2012 Ladies British Masters title. With her recent success, Hall is now set to compete in four events co-sanctioned by the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the Ladies European Tour, including the prestigious women's Australian Open at Kooyonga and the Australian WPGA Championship at Sanctuary Cove.
Hall remains optimistic, stating, 'I'm confident that if I continue my current approach, I'll have a strong chance in these upcoming tournaments.' She concludes, 'We'll see what the future holds.'
