Concert for Change: Supporting Vulnerable Families
Concert for Change, formerly Worship for Change, has raised over N200 million to support orphanages and organizations caring for children with disabilities across Nigeria. During a recent cheque presentation, each of the five beneficiary charities received N11 million.
The initiative, led by Wale Adenuga, emphasizes shared responsibility and a commitment to improving lives. Beneficiaries are required to sign commitment forms, ensuring transparency and accountability. The funds are disbursed in tranches, tied to project milestones, providing sustainable support.
The donations are making a significant impact, with organizations purchasing assistive devices and school buses. Representatives of the charities expressed gratitude, highlighting the importance of holistic support for children and their families.
Unlocking $1 Billion for Nigeria's Sugar Industry
The National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) have joined forces to transform Nigeria's sugar sector. The partnership aims to mobilize long-term financing, reduce reliance on imports, and accelerate local sugar production.
The financing model, EPC+F, is designed to provide patient capital for sugar self-sufficiency. NSDC has already secured up to $1 billion in funding through a partnership with SINOMACH, offering a 15-year tenor and attractive interest rates.
This initiative is expected to create over 50,000 jobs and reduce import dependence. NEXIM welcomes the partnership, recognizing the sugar sector's strategic importance for economic diversification and export development.
The Nigeria Sugar Master Plan, introduced in 2012, promotes local production, yet Nigeria still imports a significant amount of raw sugar. This partnership aims to address this gap and strengthen the sugar value chain.
These initiatives showcase the power of collaboration and innovation to drive positive change. Whether it's empowering startups and nonprofits, upskilling higher education institutions, supporting vulnerable families, or transforming industries, these stories inspire us to take action and make a difference.
